WHAT WE’RE LEARNING ABOUT
Since 2020, WRF has been on a learning journey about what it means to invest in narrative change in Arkansas. From releasing the ABCs of Equity (ALICE, Business for Equity, and Capital Access) Reports to the launch of our H.E.A.L. Narrative Lab where we are piloting innovative grantmaking and capacity building practices, we have learned alongside our nonprofit partners what it means to understand the current political environment and uplift powerful stories.

WHY NARRATIVE CHANGE MATTERS
Real-time and real life lessons in narrative change are a timely conversation with the 2023 Arkansas Legislative Session underway. This is because Arkansas is a battleground state for disinformation and misinformation tactics particularly around polarizing issues like: critical race theory, reproductive justice, and vaccinations.

And without the proper understanding of the basic building blocks of how access to information contributes to the stories we believe and the narratives that shape our political discourse, everyday Arkansans are subject to be influenced by incomplete and inaccurate news sources and ideologies.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN LEARN TOO
That’s why we enlisted the help of our national and local partners to create a downloadable, step-by-step guide about dis/misinformation and how to combat its influence.

Here are a few highlights from these resources:

Step 1: Know the difference between disinformation, misinformation and malinformation and their various sources of dissemination.

Step 2: gear up your toolbox with the 4T’s of tackling disinformation

Step 3: use the fact-myth-fallacy framework to debunk

Step 4: strengthen your position with reputable data and storytelling
